ALLO Communications, a fiber provider in Nebraska, Arizona and Colorado, said it will deliver 10-Gig symmetrical fiber services to Papillion, La Vista and Gretna, Nebraska in 2023. All three cities are suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska, and are part of Sarpy County.
Besides the 10-Gig connection, ALLO will provide business and residential customers with a Wi-Fi 6 router. The company says it doesn’t charge for installation.
ALLO said its 10-Gig service will cover 45,000 residents in Papillion, La Vista and Gretna. Overall, ALLO offers fiber service to 21 communities, including 16 in Nebraska, four in Colorado and one in Arizona covering more than 800,000 locations.
This isn’t the first time ALLO has announced plans to offer 10-Gig services. Last November the company announced that it was going to begin a 10-Gig fiber project this year to deliver 10-Gig fiber to Ashland, Milford, Seward, Sidney and York, Nebraska.
Multi-gig fiber offerings are starting to become more common. In January AT&T announced it was offering 2-Gig and 5-Gig symmetrical fiber to more than 70 metro areas in the U.S.
Meanwhile, Altice USA has said it will launch 10-Gig service this year and Frontier Communications has hinted at offering 10-Gig services but hasn’t provided a timeline for when that will happen. Regional broadband provider Midco said it plans to deliver 10-Gig service to hundreds of thousands of locations in the Midwest and Alaskan operator GCI also said it plans to launch 10-Gig service within the next five years.
ALLO currently offers 500 Mbps service for $73/month, 1-Gig service for $102/month and 2.3 Gig service for $185/month. The company also provides video and telephony service and caters to both residential and business customers.
In 2020 SDC Capital Partners purchased a 48% stake in ALLO from Lincoln, Nebraska-based Nelnet for $197 million. At the time ALLO said it was going to use the SDC investment to expand its fiber network to more communities.
