FNTV: Private 5G is a monster of an opportunity. Here’s why

Please meet my 2024 Hummer Electric SUV. But it’s not just any 2024 Hummer Electric SUV. It weighs four and a half tons, comes with adjustable hydraulic suspension so you can make it look like a monster truck, and does 0 – 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

And it also it also uses a combination of 5G, AI, automation and cloud infrastructure for everything from hands-free driving to navigation, over-the-air software updates, battery management, and dynamic suspension.

I didn’t buy it for the tech. I bought it because it looks like a Star Trek shuttlecraft and it’s the same color as my ’68 Charger… and they look cool next to each other on my driveway.

But it’s still a great example of how that specific combination of next-gen communications technologies – what I call Smart Cloud - can profoundly transform part of our society that has been around for over 100 years.

Now, other industries are getting their Smart Cloud makeovers - with results that will be yet more dramatic.

Mining is a great example. The most expensive part of mining isn’t bringing ore up to the surface, it’s pumping air down to the miners underground, so that they can breathe, which is challenging and expensive – roughly 40% of opex.

What if you could move the miners upstairs to remotely control robotic excavators underground over 5G with the help of automation and AI? Brazil and China are already doing this at two of the world’s largest iron ore mines.

Miners are safer, yes, but by eliminating ventilation mining companies can also increase the profitability of their operations from an average of 20% to well over 50%.

Now imagine equivalent benefits like that being amplified across every industry in every country in the world. Well, that’s what this vlog is about. I’m calling it Infradig - and it’s part of the new Fierce Network TV. Watch this space!
