FNTV: Unregulated AI in US nuclear power - a looming crisis?

Unlike Europe and China, which have established comprehensive, central rubrics to enable AI innovation while ensuring safety, The U.S. distributes AI governance among 13 national agencies, including the FDA and the Department of Transportation, plus state and local regulators. But there's no agency for AI oversight in the nuclear sector.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which is tasked with regulating nuclear safety, lacks any AI specific regulations at all. Things will only get worse now that Microsoft, Google and Facebook are venturing into nuclear power. The hyperscalers are vehemently opposed to any regulation, and will absolutely employ their vast financial resources on legal battles to avoid restrictions on AI usage in nuclear energy.

And don't expect the US government to step in to save us from the fallout of all this stupidity. It can't even work out how to stop disturbed adolescence. from shooting preschoolers with military grade assault rifles. The chances that they'll do anything sensical about the nuclear free for all are ground zero.
