Google has acquired ReqWireless, a mobile software company best known for its J2ME Web browser. The deal actually closed in July 2005 but was just announced by Google this past week. Google did not disclose the terms of the deal, but IRS documents indicate that the company paid $22.5 million in 2005 for several acquisitions, including ReqWireless, Akwan Information Technologies and Android. The deal has renewed rumors of the Google-branded mobile browser. Article
