It’s that time of the week, Silverliners. I’m still getting over Miami Heat’s Game 3 loss to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals, so I am taking it upon myself to shout out to Jimmy Butler— your Chicago-based Silverliner fans need you to come back to Chicago! Maybe rebuild those Bulls? Anyway, I digress. Let’s get back to the task at hand. We have a full roster of featured techies in this week’s edition of Cloud Career Moves — the NBA Finals edition. Swoosh!
Jeff Schmidt, CEO, ECI
ECI, a cloud services, cybersecurity and digital transformation company, named Jeff Schmidt as chief engineering officer (CEO). Jeff previously served as the founding CEO of Avertium, a cybersecurity services provider and will lead ECI into its next phase of growth. Jeff showcases his team pride by being the most spirited benchwarmer. Hey, the bench beats whoever’s stuck on mascot duty, especially with the U.S. air quality this week.
Rachel Laycock, CTO, Thoughtworks
Rachel Laycock will join Thoughtworks, a technology consultancy for digital innovation, as chief
technology officer. In her new role, Rachel will oversee the development and communication of the company’s technology strategy and vision. Unfortunately, Rachel is stuck on mascot duty. Rumor has it her mascot suit is air-conditioned and has a built-in soda machine.
Ranga Rajagopalan, CMO, Druva
Druva, a SaaS-based platform for data protection and cyber resilience, announced Ranga Rajagopalan as CMO. Ranga has experience leading product teams at companies including Commvault, DellEMC and Veritas. Once that buzzer hits halftime, you’ll probably catch Ranga sprinting into the stands to beat the popcorn line — don’t tell Coach.
Lara Caimi, President of Worldwide Field Operations, Samsara
Lara Caimi has joined Samsara, provider of the Connected Operations Cloud, as president of worldwide
field operations. Lara has over 25 years of experience in the industry as a technology leader. When not on the court, she is slam-dunking paper balls into a desk-sized basketball hoop. Practice makes perfect!
Gregory George, CCO, Alight
Alight, a cloud-based human capital and technology services provider, named Gregory (Greg) George as chief commercial officer. In his new role, Greg will lead the company’s North America growth strategy and all aspects of Alight’s commercial organization. Greg may not be a hall-of-famer yet, but insiders report that Michael Jordan himself personally invited Greg to join his golf club. We are still figuring that one out.
