POST Luxembourg pioneers Europe’s first AI-ready Autonomous fiber network

POST Luxembourg has made history by becoming the first European operator to transition to an autonomous, AI-ready fiber network. In collaboration with Nokia, POST is modernizing its broadband infrastructure using Nokia’s Lightspan access nodes and the Altiplano automation platform, setting a new benchmark for next-generation fiber networks in Europe.

A leap toward fully autonomous fiber networks

With a growing demand for high-speed and low-latency broadband services, POST Luxembourg is migrating its entire fiber infrastructure to a software-defined access network (SDAN) by the end of 2025. This move enhances network efficiency, reduces operational costs, and improves customer experience by leveraging AI-driven automation.

  • The adoption of Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller allows POST to:
  • Detect and resolve network issues faster using AI-powered automation.
  • Monitor up to 20 times more data points for better network performance.
  • Reduce environmental impact with energy-efficient real-time monitoring.
  • Accelerate service deployment through open API integrations.

Future-proofing broadband in Luxembourg

As Luxembourg’s leading telecom provider, POST is future-proofing its broadband infrastructure to support emerging technologies. The upgraded fiber network will enable:

  • XGS-PON and 25G PON for ultra-fast internet speeds.
  • Improved cloud gaming, enterprise networking, and digital experiences.
  • Reliable connectivity for mission-critical applications in government and business sectors.

Pierre Scholtes, Head of Telecom Networks at POST Luxembourg, emphasized that the transition strengthens the company’s position as a leader in fiber innovation, ensuring scalability and AI-powered network operations.

A new era for European telecom

With networks becoming increasingly complex, automation and AI-driven solutions are essential for operators to maintain efficiency. Nokia’s Lightspan family and Altiplano platform equip telecom providers with the tools to drive automation, cost efficiency, and seamless scalability in the era of AI-powered networks.

This milestone not only solidifies POST Luxembourg’s leadership in fiber technology but also sets the stage for Europe’s broadband evolution toward fully autonomous, high-performance networks.
