Panelist: Sheng Xu

Dr. Sheng Xu is currently an associate professor at the UC San Diego. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, followed by postdoctoral studies in the Materials Research Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His group is interested in developing new materials and fabrication strategies for flexible health monitoring and energy harvesting devices. His research has been presented to the U.S. Congress as a testimony of the importance and impact NIH funding. He has been recognized by many awards and honors, including MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35, Biocom Catalyst Award, Nokia Bell Labs Prize, SPIE DCS Rising Researchers, IEEE Sensors Council Early Career Technical Achievement Award, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Technical Achievement Award, San Diego County Engineering Council Outstanding Engineer of the Year, SEMI FLEXI R&D Award, and MRS Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award.
