Arvin Singh, head of 5G and edge innovation with Verizon Business, spoke at Fierce Wireless’ recent 5G Blitz event (now available on demand) where he talked about the carrier’s 5G private wireless business.
“In my over two decades in the wireless industry, all here at Verizon, there’s never been a more exciting time than now in terms of the role of technology in defining the future of many industries,” said Singh.
He said private networks present the opportunity to take wireless into places and areas where there may not be a public 5G network. In other places where a public 5G network exists, private 5G can offer additional security, privacy, improved data sovereignty, the ability to offer application prioritization with quality of service and increased management and control. “Think of it as a 5G LAN solution that is purpose-built for your business need,” said Singh. “A lot of enterprises are looking at campus-based deployments.”
Verizon can help companies build their own private 5G networks. “Think of a dedicated purpose-built indoor and outdoor private wireless network where the radio access is co-located with the packet core and edge compute infrastructure,” said Singh.
Check out the last couple of minutes of his presentation where he gives some tips to enterprises that are considering private 5G.
Recently, Verizon Business said it would offer a new turn-key private networking product in partnership with Celona. The private 5G solution will target all business sizes: small, mid-market and enterprise. The offering will use Celona plug-and-play ingredients under the Verizon Business brand.
