Top 10 things we are watching for at Mobile World Congress

Mobile World Congress is upon us and we are overjoyed. So overjoyed that we decided to put together a list of the Top 10 things we anticipate will be awaiting us once we awake from hypersleep and our Fhloston Paradise airship docs in Barcelona.

Here goes:

10. 5G. Lots and lots of 5G. Then a bit more 5G. But also...

9. ... 6G! Yes, it’s apparently not too early for the 6G marketing machine to get into full swing.

8. Giant juicy Jamón Ibérico hams – Mmmmmmmmmm Jamón!

7. Clouds of all kinds, but lots focused on industry verticals (Oracle – we’re looking at you).

6. Lots of virtual reality demos (Ericsson has one which lets users emulate participating in a marathon... no word on whether it includes the cardiac arrest or shin splints).

5. A smiley robot wheeling around being ignored.

4. “New” cloud network slicing capabilities (Not actually a new idea.... See: 1980’s TDM, 1990’s VLANs, and 2000-era optical wavelength mux’s).

3. At least one German, looking smug, avoiding sore feet, riding a tactical bicycle.

2. Security of all kinds – security guards, cyber security talks, blah blah blah security blah blah blah.

1. Open APIs (these are important!)
