Extreme Networks announced plans to acquire the software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) division of Infovista in an all-cash deal valued at $73 million. The deal, expected to close in October 2021, will generate new revenue for Extreme Networks and expand its portfolio by offering cloud-managed SD-WAN and security solutions.
Infovista has recently created a new unit for its SD-WAN business called Ipanematech SAS (Ipanema), and this is the unit that Extreme is purchasing. The business unit is headquartered in France. Its solutions are used by more than 400 customers in over 100,000 sites.
Similar to other SD-WAN technologies, Ipanema’s solution automatically and dynamically adjusts application traffic flows based on real-time network conditions, providing increased performance even under diverse conditions across various types of cloud-managed WAN connectivity.
With the acquisition, Extreme Networks will be able to establish a greater European customer presence and strengthen its leadership position in cloud management.

“By acquiring Ipanema, Extreme extends its market leadership position in the cloud with features that will help to reduce complexity for customers when it comes to operating and managing their increasingly distributed networks,” said Extreme Networks President and CEO Ed Meyercord, in a statement. “Tapping into the fast-growing and developing market segments of cloud-managed SD-WAN, and, in the future SASE, accelerates our topline growth potential and expands our opportunity to grow recurring revenue with additional SaaS applications.”
