Zayo Group is upgrading its transport network and deploying 31 high capacity 400G long-haul routes across North America and Western Europe. The 400G capability will make it possible for Zayo to deliver multi-terabit capacity across its network and provide higher transmission rates, reduced cost per bit and greater bandwidth capacity. The company said it will also result in reduced operational and maintenance costs and a 40% reduction in power consumption.
Zayo said that the 400G capacity is designed to provide a direct route for multi-cloud and multi-market connectivity and will be well suited for content providers, hyperscalers, carriers and data centers.
Demand for 400G has accelerated recently as more users and applications are driving demand for increased bandwidth. Zayo said that by deploying 31 400G long-haul routes it will provide a fourfold increase in the company’s bandwidth.
