AT&T and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have voted to approve a labor agreement covering former DirecTV field service employees in four states, further solidifying the service provider's relationships with its union workforce.
The new agreement, which was reached on Feb. 16, covers about 280 employees in Delaware, Maryland, New Mexico and Oregon, and places the employees into an appendix to an existing labor contract.
Former DirecTV employees joined AT&T as part of AT&T's July 2015 acquisition of DirecTV.

Following a recent tentative agreement with its Southwest wireline workforce, AT&T has reached 19 different labor agreements in 2016 and 2017 collectively covering over 81,000 employees.
On the DirecTV side, AT&T has garnered 10 agreements covering nearly 7,800 former DirecTV employees.
In December, AT&T completed an agreement on a new contract covering 2,000 DirecTV call center workers. The agreements support workers in five locations: Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Englewood, Colorado; Huntington, West Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Being able to finalize these agreements, particularly on the DirecTV side, is important as AT&T looks to further integrate the satellite operator’s core operations to drive new products like DirectTV Now over the top.
