Chariton Valley Telephone, a Missouri-based independent telco, has set aside over $50 million to install fiber over the next five years in its current service territories and new areas like Brookfield, Missouri.
The service provider recently revealed a $6 million fiber expansion plan for Brookfield during an event held on Wednesday. Already built out to various areas in the service provider’s footprint, the new development here is that the fiber service will be available to all residents and businesses.

Like other Tier 2 communities, Chariton says that the installation of fiber brings many educational, healthcare, and economic benefits to the area, including an increase in the value of a home.
"Being the first in the area to provide fiber internet service to residential and business customers furthers Chariton Valley's commitment to being the area's premier communications provider," said Chariton Valley CEO/GM Kirby Underberg in a release.
The service provider is leveraging the fiber network to provide an array of residential and business services. Residents that are in the path of the fiber network can get internet speeds up to 300 Mbps. The service provider also offers traditional phone and a 300-channel video service.
Similar to the residential side, Chariton also offers businesses up to 300 Mbps fiber-based services as well as video, voice, wireless and an array of managed cloud-based services.
