The Asia Pacific Region (APAC) continues to grow by leaps and bounds, which serves as the backdrop for Colt announcing today its Colt IQ Network is now available in Australia.
The addition in Australia not only opens up new routes between that country and key Asian hubs such as Singapore and Japan, but also gives large multi-national Australian companies access into Colt's U.S. network.
Colt's initial expansion is into the Sydney metro area. Colt is currently offering both Ethernet line and Ethernet hub and spoke services in Sydney with IP and Ethernet VPN services to follow.
According to Cisco’s Visual Networking Index, IP traffic in the Asia Pacific will reach 172.7 Exabytes per month by 2022 growing at a compound annual growth rate of 32%.
“Asia Pacific continues to be an increasingly important region for Colt and our customers, so now is the perfect time for us to be extending our presence further,” said Carl Grivner, CEO of Colt Technology Services, in a prepared statement. “APAC is becoming a global driver of transformative technologies such as blockchain and 5G, so we want to ensure that organizations working in the region have access to Colt’s agile, on demand, high bandwidth network to drive their businesses forward.”
Last week, Colt announced it had Colt launched its SIP trunking services in Hong Kong and Singapore to bring its total number of countries with the service to 23.

With those recent expansions, the IQ Network is connected to more than 27,500 on net buildings and more than 850 data centers globally.
