Colt Technology Services has promoted Rajiv Datta to be its new COO, capping off a recent series of management changes at the aggressively growing European competitive business provider.
Datta, who previously served as Colt’s CTO, will now report directly to CEO Carl Grivner.
In his new role as COO, Datta will oversee Colt’s operational and technological capabilities, customer experience strategy and product and innovation teams under one organizational framework.

A key mission that Datta will be embarking on as COO is Colt’s continued network expansion across Asia and the United States.
Datta will enter the role as Colt is working to further its presence in the United States by developing a large metro fiber provider presence in the United States through a mix of its own network facilities and assets it will rent from other providers. The service provider said in June that it would “build or buy” network assets in major cities including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Virginia.
More recently, Colt launched an expansion of its metro network in Singapore and began construction of the company’s newest metro area network in Hong Kong. This brings the total number of Colt metro area networks around the globe to 49.
Datta will be working alongside Colt’s new VP of network engineering Randy Nicklas, who recently joined the company.
Prior to arriving at Colt in 2015, Datta held a number of senior positions in the telecoms and communications infrastructure industry, including as COO and CTO of AboveNet Communications.
