Colt Technology Services, working in tandem with AudioCodes, announced on Tuesday the launch of its cloud session border controller (SBC) solution to enable PSTN calling on Microsoft Teams.
The cloud-based voice solution provides direct routing as-a-service without the need for hardware on premises or in a data center. Colt said the new service provided greater agility for both large and small enterprises by completing onboarding in less than a week.
The new Cloud SBC service is an extension of Colt's Intelligent Communications platform that was launched two years ago. The service also includes per usage pricing, which gives enterprises flexibility for managing their digital transformations. Over the course of the pandemic, enterprises of all sizes have accelerated their digital transformations.
By using Colt's network assets, enterprises can reap the rewards of Colt's voice and data footprint, either on-net or off-net, via a bundled solution with one contract for the unified collaboration services.
In an interview last month with FierceTelecom, Colt CEO Keri Gilder said next generation voice services would be a key focus for Colt this year, especially in light of Covid-19. Gilder said Colt has seen double-digit growth in its voice services last year, mainly due to work-from-home usage.

Colt is also an underlying voice provider for many of the content and cloud collaboration tools that are being used, which Gilder said elevated the need for better performance and more APIs on its next generation platforms.
“This past year has truly highlighted the value of delivering voice and network services quickly and seamlessly," Gilder said, according to a statement in Tuesday's press release. "As the world changed dramatically, we saw first-hand the increasing need for voice services, which were critical for enterprises who needed to shift their operations to remote working almost overnight. Our customers benefited in these times by working with one supplier who could deliver a complete Intelligent Communications solution, enabling the collaboration tools needed for today’s digital workplace.”
"Colt’s investment in its Intelligent Communications offering will continue to pay dividends, as more and more enterprises transition to Microsoft Teams as their primary collaboration and communication cloud-based platform.”
