Global Capacity has named VeloCloud as its managed SD-WAN (software defined wide area networking) partner, marking the next stage in its evolution as a managed services provider to business customers.
The service provider’s pact with VeloCloud is designed to help it expand its global enterprise networking portfolio.
While the market has become flooded with SD-WAN offerings, Global Capacity hopes to differentiate itself by providing what it says is an improved network experience resolving some of the common WAN problems businesses face when building and managing complex hybrid WAN architectures.

Some of the common issues enterprises face include difficulty in load sharing traffic across a mix of access connections, and complex, static and manual network configurations making it difficult to map to business-centric requirements. Also, businesses often lack of application visibility and control over connections.
By using Global Capacity’s SD-WAN service, businesses will be able to route data across their WAN by first choosing the right access types based on the performance needs of individual locations and applications. They can also define unique policies to automatically prioritize traffic, enabling enterprises to make better use of bandwidth to enhance performance and overall user experience.
Set to be released to the general market by the end of the second quarter of 2017, Global Capacity's SD-WAN solution is currently offered to select customers on a rolling basis.
Chris Alberding, SVP of product at Global Capacity, told FierceTelecom in a previous interview that demand for SD-WAN services from its existing customers is very ripe.
“It moved a lot faster than anyone expected, and I am seeing that on the customer side,” Alberding said.
