In conjunction with its 2021 Investor Day last week, Juniper Networks unveiled its new Paragon automation platform.
Juniper’s CEO Rami Rahim described Paragon as a “WAN automation software suite; a cloud-delivered solution to assure customer service experience.”
Rahim indicated that Paragon includes software that Juniper obtained from its acquisition of Netrounds in 2020.
The software is tailored for 5G networks and multi-cloud environments. It can automate manual tasks and processes, perform constant testing and automatically remediate problems.
Paragon is a modular portfolio of software applications that are designed to translate business intent into real-world performance across the lifecycle of a network and of services.
The Paragon software is fully cloud-native and containerized. Juniper says it was built from the ground up for modern network operators, with every application designed to be service-quality aware.
Paragon’s capabilities include real-time visualization of network topology and integrated support for segment routing, MPLS and network slicing across all network domains. It can optimize path computation and use of network resources. And it’s designed to constantly improve the network and services with continuous learning through machine-learning. It can also help teams minimize risk by modeling and analyzing new services before they're implemented.
Paragon can be hosted on-premises or in a public cloud environment. And it can be deployed in redundant node clusters within a single data center or across multiple clouds in a high-availability scale-out architecture.
“By automating our service assurance process with Juniper’s cloud-native Paragon active assurance solution, our engineering and operation organizations can guarantee that scheduled changes in our core and access networks do not impact customer experience, which allows us to mitigate expensive repairs,” said Kenji Ogura, director of IP core engineering at Consolidated Communications, in a statement.
“Our automated WAN business is Juniper's heritage and still represents our largest business,” said Rahim.
