Orange Business, a France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) unit, sees Latin America as one of the growth areas for its multinational corporations (MNCs), so the service provider is going to increase its network coverage across various regions in the country by ten times.
Beginning in October this year, Orange will extend its service and network capacity in five key cities in Brazil and Chile, followed by Argentina, Peru and Panama. In making this network upgrade, Orange will extend its suite of services, including MPLS (IP VPN and Business VPN), International Ethernet Link and its emerging Telepresence videoconferencing service.
These new network extensions will be made possible through a new network ring that will connect Latin America to the East Coast of the U.S. via Brazil and to the West Coast of the U.S. via Chile (through Peru and Panama).
Mauro Cruzeiro, vice president of Latin America for Orange Business Services, said the company will "continue to see increased global expansion not only by our multinational customers looking to grow in Latin America" but also "more and more Latin American enterprises expanding within the region and beyond."
While Orange's Latin America network expansion is new, the service provider has already had a broad presence in the region with 122 points of presence across 31 countries in Latin America. The service provider's latest network build out is part of the service provider's company broader international strategy to generate $1.45 billion in emerging markets in 2015 under its conquests growth strategy.
