Ribbon Communications has named Fritz Hobbs, a director of the company, as its new president and CEO, replacing Ray Dolan who stepped down from leading the company.
This is the first leadership change to occur at the company following the merger of Sonus Networks and Genband, which was rebranded as Ribbon Communications.
"Following the successful merger, and as we accelerate the synergies which are resulting from bringing together the talents of the teams, Ribbon is well-positioned to execute and capitalize on our many opportunities," Hobbs said in a release.

Dolan, who also previously served as CEO of wireless upstart Flarion Technologies before it was purchased by Qualcomm, said in a release that now that the merger is complete, it is the “right time for me to transition overall leadership of the company.”
Ribbon noted that Hobbs’ appointment as CEO is not related to the company's financial performance for the current quarter or progress to-date on the company's merger integration efforts.
Hobbs comes with over four decades of management experience to Ribbon. He has been an adviser to private equity investment firm One Equity Partners and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ally Financial, where he oversaw the transformation of the financial services company formerly known as GMAC.
