Schneider Electric, EdgePresence and Accu-Tech have teamed up on a plan to deploy multiple edge data centers across the U.S. next year.
As deployments of 5G and IoT ramp up, service providers, businesses and vendors are putting their applications and services closer to the network edge to enable low latency. According to research by Grand View Research, the edge computing market is expected to reach $43.4 billion by 2027 with a CAGR of just over 37%.
Statesboro, Georgia-based EdgePresence is the owner and operator of multi-tenant, modular data centers that provide space, power, bandwidth, and interconnection across U.S. markets. Located at the base of cell towers, enterprise campus locations and key real estate locations, EdgePresence's modular data centers have a compact footprint that includes monitoring, physical security and cooling features.
Through its partnership with Schneider Electric and Accu-Tech, EdgePresence said it could provide its customers with scalable, modular points-of-presence to enable business applications at the edge.
The data centers will include Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure Data Center solution, among other Schneider solutions. As the IT distributor, Accu-Tech will simplify the deployment model to speed up the time to market. EdgePresence will integrate prefabricated data center modules that are powered by Schneider Electric.
“Businesses are increasingly relying on next-gen technologies and applications to power their businesses, but often don’t have the IT infrastructure needed to help them scale and meet demand,” said EdgePresence CEO Doug Recker, in a statement. “We develop unmanned, modular data centers at the edge to give customers in various markets across the U.S. the network access and connectivity they need.
"We know we need partners that offer a comprehensive set of capabilities and expertise to ensure our data centers run smoothly once deployed, and we have that with Schneider Electric and Accu-Tech.”

Last week, DataBank announced it was augmenting its traditional data center portfolio with a $30 million investment in EdgePresence. By using EdgePresence's Edge Data Centers (EDCs,) DataBank is able to colocate its customer workloads at the "far edge" of a network to further reduce latency while improving performance.
