Uniti Fiber has revamped its management structure following the completion of its acquisitions of Hunt Telecom and Southern Light.
Hunt and Southern Light will operate under the Uniti Fiber brand in its fiber infrastructure segment.
Under the new management structure, Uniti Fiber will be co-led by former Southern Light CEO Andy Newton and Ron Mudry. Newton will serve as president of infrastructure and operations, and Mudry as president of sales and business development.

Meanwhile, Hunt’s executive team will continue to hold senior leadership positions in Uniti Fiber, focusing on E-rate, military and enterprise products and services.
“This structure will provide continuity to ensure an efficient integration while leveraging national and local sales channels and the operational expertise of our entire Uniti Fiber team,” said Kenny Gunderman, president and CEO of Uniti, in a release.
By acquiring Southern Light and Hunt, Uniti Fiber will advance its standing as a provider of data transport services, with a particular focus on infrastructure solutions to the wireless, E-Rate, military, enterprise and wholesale sectors, including fiber-to-the-tower backhaul, small cell networks and dark fiber.
These acquisitions add greater scale to the service provider’s network. Uniti Fiber’s network now encompasses over 30,000 route miles and 1.1 million fiber strand miles, with 3,000 route miles of dark fiber presently under construction.
Besides the network growth, Uniti previously said that the acquisitions of Southern Light and Hunt will provide the company with $250 million in new annual revenue. Additionally, the company expects $12.5 million in opex synergies to be achieved over the next 18 to 24 months.
