AT&T said that it has resolved the issue that was affecting calls between AT&T, Verizon and other operator networks Tuesday afternoon and early evening.
“The interoperability issue between carriers has been resolved,” an AT&T spokesperson told Fierce Tuesday evening. “We collaborated with the other carrier to find a solution and appreciate our customers' patience during this period.”
A Verizon spokesperson shared the following statement: “Verizon's network is operating normally. Some customers, primarily in the Northeast and Midwest, are experiencing issues when calling or texting with customers served by another carrier. We are continuing to monitor the situation.”
Earlier today, AT&T explained that a nationwide issue was affecting the ability of some customers to complete calls between carriers. "We are working closely with Verizon to determine the nature of the issue and what actions need to be taken,” the AT&T spokesperson said.
In February, AT&T experienced a major network outage that lasted about 10 hours.
