Regional carrier C Spire launched what it’s describing as a first in wireless history – a “Pick When You Pay” initiative that allows prepaid customers to pick their monthly payment dates.
"Historically, C Spire has always been on the cutting edge with wireless products and services," said Craig Jackson, C Spire general manager for wireless markets, in a statement. "Our new Pick When You Pay initiative is not only a first in wireless history, but also in the customer's best interest. It gives them the freedom to choose."
Here’s what C Spire said about the move away from the usual prepaid wireless payment schedule: “Since each month has a different number of days, payment dates always vary. Inconsistent payment dates can be confusing, resulting in bad customer experiences.”
Therefore, C Spire is moving away from that kind of payment model for this particular service.
According to the company, the benefits include paying on the same exact day each month, which, presumably makes it easier to remember when the bill is due, and the ability for customers to pick a payment date of their choice. Customers will need to pay for the remaining days before renewal to restore service, C Spire said.
C Spire offers 5G on a nationwide basis, but this deal is being offered to consumers only in “C Spire Country.” The Ridgeland, Mississippi-based company said this plan gives customers more flexibility and financial control.
It’s certainly not the only unique offering to come from the company, which has developed somewhat of a reputation as an innovator. Earlier this year, C Spire rolled out Solo, a brand it’s selling at a discount but without the brick-and-mortar stores.
Similar to brands like Verizon’s Visible, the idea with Solo is to eliminate costs associated with physical retail stores and cater to folks who prefer to do their business and customer service digitally via apps and online. That Solo offer, when introduced in April, was only available for Mississippi residents.
