AT&T suffers a service outage in North Carolina & Virginia

This follows a nationwide outage in February that was blamed on a software glitch
Another day, another AT&T outage.
Realtime outage scanner Downdetector started getting reports of outages in the Virginia and North Carolina regions at around 4 a.m. Eastern time today. The problems seem to have been largely resolved by about 10 a.m. Eastern.
“We did have an issue this morning in some areas of Virginia and North Carolina – please note, it was not nationwide,” an AT&T spokesperson told Fierce in an email. The issue is now resolved, the spokesperson said.
The issue left thousands of customers without service. in the affected areas this morning. “We worked as quickly as possible to restore service to some customers in the coastal areas of Virginia and North Carolina whose service may have been affected this morning by an equipment failure. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the AT&T spokesperson said.
This is just the latest problem for AT&T this year. The operator suffered a major nationwide network outage on February 22, just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) show. A real egg-on-their-face moment for Ma Bell.
The operator blamed it on a software glitch. AT&T said that the event affected more than 70,000 users across the country.
Then on April 18, an intentional cut of an AT&T cable took down communications at the Sacramento airport. The airport said that services were down for several airlines and it caused a lot of long delays. The sheriff’s department said the cut was deliberate.
So, it’s already been a year of major network software problems and cable cuts for AT&T. What might we expect next?
