A study released by Gartner revealed that sales of smartphones are significantly outpacing PDA sales. Gartner says sales of smartphones increased 75.5 percent to 34.7 million units in the first half of 2006, while PDA sales grew just 5.7 percent to 7.4 million units. Gartner says Nokia owns 42 percent of the combined PDA and smartphone market, compared with a single-digit market share for Research in Motion, Motorola and Palm. Article
