Synchronoss Technologies announced that it has teamed with Amazon to deliver a better way for mobile operators to offer Amazon services to their customers—and to do so through a carrier's billing system.
At the heart of the deal is Synchronoss’ Digital Experience Platform (DXP), which it describes as a unique platform that significantly reduces time to market and simplifies IT delivery for organizations looking to transform the customer experience.
Amazon Prime, as well as Amazon music and video services, currently are offered by carriers in the U.S. and abroad. Now, Synchronoss will be stepping in as a middle player and integrator to make the process more efficient.
“We’re going to be helping Amazon as well as the carriers facilitate customer journeys,” said Synchronoss President and CEO Glenn Lurie. “We call them dynamic customer journeys so that it will make it easier and more simplistic for those carriers and Amazon to take those product sets to market.”

Synchronoss already works with operators around the globe. Its DXP can configure and manage various types of transactions and do so across channels, including wireless and wireline. A lot of carriers operate not just one system but hundreds due to multiple acquisitions over the years, and the complexity in their back rooms is what DXP was built to help solve.
“We’re very excited obviously,” Lurie told FierceWireless. “We think this puts us in a very nice position as one of their key integrators to work with both Amazon and carriers globally.”
Last year, Synchronoss acquired the Honeybee software business from UK-based Dixons Carphone, which forms the basis of a platform that enables companies to design and launch optimized omni-channel customer relationships.
