GSMA
The GSMA Board of Directors elected Gopal Vittal, as chair, for the remainder of the Board term, until the end of 2026. Vittal has served on the GSMA Board for eight years, including as Deputy Chair since 2023 and most recently as Acting Chair of the Board since mid-January, 2025. As Chair, Vittal will oversee the strategic direction of the organization, including completing the transition to 5G Standalone, driving new revenue models, and harnessing the potential of AI and GSMA Open Gateway APIs, to ensure growth.
Carbyne
Carbyne, the leading provider of cloud-native emergency communication solutions, announced that Jim Bugel, former President of FirstNet, Built with AT&T, joined its Advisory Board. With over 35 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and a distinguished career in public safety, national security, and emergency preparedness, Mr. Bugel's expertise will help shape Carbyne's future.

Bugel is renowned for his leadership in revolutionizing public safety communications. Following the 9/11 Commission's call for a dedicated nationwide network for first responders, he collaborated with Congress and public safety leaders to establish the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet). Mr. Bugel was the architect of AT&T's strategy and policy to secure the 25-year federal contract to build and operate FirstNet.
VEON
VEON Ltd., announced the appointment of Anand Ramachandran as Corporate Development Officer, effective from May 1, 2025. Anand will lead VEON’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Investor Relations teams. Anand joined VEON as Chief of Staff in September 2024, where he led a number of strategic initiatives involving internal, regional and global stakeholders. Prior to joining VEON, Anand was with Singapore Telecom, where he served as Vice President of Business Management in the Group CEO’s Office.
VEON also appointed Johan Buse as CEO of Banglalink, VEON’s digital operator in Bangladesh, effective 6th April 2025. Buse joins Banglalink from StarHub in Singapore where he led the Consumer Business Group focusing on strategy and business transformation. Prior to that, Johan has decades of experience in the telecom industry across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He previously served as the Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Oman and held senior positions at Deutsche Telekom Croatia, AXIS and Singtel.
Cloudera
Cloudera appointed Leo Brunnick as Chief Product Officer to drive Cloudera’s next phase of AI and data innovation. With more than 30 years of experience leading technology teams, Brunnick will work closely with CEO Charles Sansbury and the Cloudera leadership team to oversee the company’s product and technology direction.
Beanfield
Beanfield, a local and independent telecom in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa, appointed Winnie Leung as its CFO in a time of growth and expansion.
