MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA – Editor Liz Coyne brings you the Day 3 and MWC end-of-show roundup. In this episode we share our favorite tidbits and learn a new term that's sure to be hot next year: AI RAN.
Wait, what? Artificial intelligence (AI) and radio access network (RAN) combined into one? Yep, it's true according to Monica Alleven.
Dan Jones brought us another memorable sound bite thanks to Rakuten Symphony's OSS boss and AI maven Rahul Atril who joked that the Rakuten Mobile is "eating its own AI dog food."
Meanwhile, Linda Hardesty noted that her favorite thing was how everyone she spoke to was "bright-eyed and bushy tailed about AI and network automation" but when it comes down to it, that is years away.
Finally, Dan Jones and I met up with NTT DOCOMO to learn about where they are with 5G and 6G — and couldn't resist the chance to try out their FEEL TECH software-generated tomato soup. Yes, you heard that right.
