U.S. Cellular has deployed software services provider Amdocs’ digital care and consumer experience solution as part of a five-year digital transformation project the pair announced last November.
The nation’s fifth-largest carrier has also extended its existing services agreement with Amdocs into 2025, including development, testing and managed services in support of BSS/OSS systems.
Using Amdocs’ portfolio, U.S. Cellular will digitize the sales and ordering experience for customers via its online and mobile app-based channels. Amdocs said increased automation will help the carrier to better manage its digital marketing with more data and analytics-driven reports and analysis of campaigns.

“To continue to differentiate the U.S. Cellular brand experience, we require highly agile systems to deliver a digital-first customer experience,” said Michael Irizarry, EVO and CTO of U.S. Cellular. “We expect to quickly realize the objectives of our digital journey with the rapid introduction of innovative new solutions for our customers.”
As part of U.S. Cellular’s digitalization efforts Amdocs previously said that in addition to back-end capabilities, the company is providing front-end portal design and third-party components like content management and personalization capabilities.
The extension of Amdocs’ existing testing, hosting and managed services aims to help U.S. Cellular deploy new products, features, or plans quickly in response to a quickly evolving marketplace.
“Taking an agile approach to its customer-first digital journey will enable U.S. Cellular to achieve this while bringing greater choice to market faster and reducing risk and costs,” said Gary Miles, chief marketing officer at Amdocs.

Earlier this year Amdocs announced Charter Communications and Comcast had both tapped Amdocs to help modernize back-end systems for their respective Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum Mobile MVNO brands, to create better digital customer experiences.
While Amdocs has been known for its backend software and services expertise, the company is also making moves in the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) arena and is one of five approved Spectrum Access System (SAS) vendors, alongside CommScope, Federated Wireless, Google, and Sony.
In September interview with FierceWireless, Yogen Patel, head of Solutions Marketing at Amdocs Open Network, said that over the years the company has built a substantial business where it uses software automation for network design, planning, integration and optimization. As a SAS provider, Amdocs sees an opportunity to position its broader portfolio, services and capabilities, according to Patel.
